Fundoplication
for Hiatus Hernia, GERD, Achalsia Cardia
If patient is having persistent complaints of acid reflux, food regurgitation and decreased quality of life. He should undergo this procedure.
This procedure can be done in alone or with combination /or part of other procedure.
Following are some symptoms which are watchful for anti reflux surgery: –
- Long history of heartburn, regurgitation for atleast 1 year.
- Increasing dose of Ppi /antacids very frequently and still not getting relieved.
- Reduced quality of life.
- Regurgitation of food/ water/acid at night or early morning.
- Early Esophageal mucosal changes.
- Hiatus hernia.
- Barret’s Esophagus.
- Esophageal motility problems
Usually, initial therapy for these are medical management in various forms, may require endoscopies and localized endoscopic procedures. But if the above said methods fails, recurrence and non-compliance is there than Surgical method is applied.
Mostly surgical procedures are done laparoscopically, most of them are in combination of hiatus hernia which is remain Under diagnosed.

- Laparoscopic floppy’s Nissen’s Fundoplication.
- Laparoscopic partial Toupet’s Fundoplication
- Laparoscopic cardiomyotomy with dor’s Fundoplication for Achalsia cardia.
